This problem with the Windows Journal Viewer is ridiculously easy to
fix - but only if you are comfortable adding a registry key!
The installation of Windows Journal Viewer fails to create a registry
key within each existing user profile on a system (including the
Default User Profile).
The Key Name is:
HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Journal Viewer
note that there are no values within the Keyname itself.
Placing the key value within the default user profile allows any new
users of a system to pickup the setting automatically.
We use an Altiris RapidInstall package to apply the key to all
existing profiles on a system right after the Windows Journal Viewer
is installed.
Presumably this same problem and a similar fix may also work for those
with the Messenger problem.
