contrary to the last comment, we have found the HP7145 to be a good small office scanner, that works well with Acrobat 6.0 (not many scanners can say that!), it has a sheet feeder, and flatbed.
If you want to go upmarket, I would suggest a Fujitsu that comes bundled with Acrobat, then it should work OK
