stills exported out of iPhoto to AE to be a mov - cropping, scaling questions
I have some digital pics that are 1984 x 1488 or 1488 X 1984 (1.7MB) res that I am taking and exporting out of iPhoto and putting into the comp window to be outputed as a .mov which will go out to FCP3 - incorporating it into part of my project. After applying each to the timeline, I noticed that all were too big for the action-title safe area. I am exporting them out of iPhoto w/o constraint , but taking and scaling the image down to 720x 480 (I believe) and importing it into AE. The images are too large for the area cutting off a considerable portion of the images. After playing around a bit in both programs, I decided the best route to make things fit was to scale down each image and readjust the anchor point (since I will be animating the images my anchor points are going change and do not have to be centered). It appears that the quality is still good on my monitor, even with one going down as far as 55%. Is there a better solution to this problem in order to retain the quality of each image or should I be doing something else? The one pic that is 1488 x 1984 is more curious and scaling it down has resulted in more of the pic being ommitted than the others. I am working on a dual proc Mac G4 and the .mov will become part of my DVD project. My first attempt at working with this to produce a .mov in AE.
Thanks in advance.
