Codecs and Quality Loss - DV
I have read that I can gain serious quality loss when working with my DV footage. Is it true that AE will re-render any footage thus increasing the quality loss? Premier only re-renders the portions with effects applied correct?
I am currently using the MS codec but have a demo copy of the Main Concept DV codec. I created a test project. All it was was a stationary word. I rendered one with the MS codec and one with the MC Codec. I opened them both in MS Win Media Player. They both looked equally bad. But it appeared that they may have both been played back with the MS Codec. Does that sound correct? Could that make a difference?
Also, from some of the web sites I have seen it looks like it is difficult to capture/send DV to/from the camera with premier using the MC codec. Is this correct?
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Josh
