Re: Exchanging file layers & keeping effects
Select the layer you want to replace in your timeline. Now pick your new footage from your file bin and drag it down to the layer you just highlighted. Hold down the Option key, then release your mouse.
AE will substitute your new source file with the same effects and keyframes that layer had.
